After Apples Phil Schiller stood in front of a massive, projected calendar date of Oct. 14th. and announced that the iPhone 4S will be released as well as FREE iPhone 3S's. My world domination banter in my previous post Android and Google, Apple and Nortel go to War wasn't... banter...
I'll cut right to the chase- First things first! NO antenna problems...Two antennas that work together saving battery life and reception headaches. Massively upgraded and smoother IOS-5 and iCloud. The iPhone 4S takes 1080p HD video at 30FPS on a 8MP camera with stabilizing, editing software, the works. New battery that outperforms the previous model and Apple included their new processor which has been talked about showing up in a phone for almost a year. Most of us know the chip from the iPad2. The dual core A5 chip, now in the iPhone 4S. Prepare to game!
Remember this phone was not hyped. The iPhone 5 was hyped. This is not the iPhone 5, it's a simple upgrade. A real gift for iPhone users.
Think about it, your cases will still fit. Check out the coolest cases ever on Chiiper.com. (a bit expensive)
Everything the same only improved upon. What the other smartphone companies have in line doesn't even pair up with the hardware inside this new smartphone. Don't get me started on the Androids current and past issues... Alright my next post maybe.

I Will Change Online Magazines
That's right, MusicianTuner.com is the home of Musician Tuner Magazine and I don't need to produce hard copies. Since print is dying, online journalism is exploding. Journalists are becoming bloggers and bloggers are becoming journalists. In 2010 The Wall Street Journal reported 400K paid online subscriptions. So, in my case, a writer has become a web developer.
We will see publishers turning to the internet for subscription publication on a large scale. The problem now is that we as the subscriber and customer still enjoy hard copy magazines. It looks cool, it can fit anywhere, you can drop it. Versus a Black and White Kindle, or a $460 iPad2. And even then you have pages to mechanically flip through. Not very fun at all. So, the following is a manifest of how you cripple bad/poor journalism and create something successful. What I'm doing;
My online magazine will be the rebellion of journalism and marketing. No ads. That's right, for several months and until the site's 'author back-end' is stuffed with articles musiciantuner.com will not display traditional website advertisement. This coincides with the magazines mission statement found at blog.musiciantuner.com.
Replacing the hard copy:
No magazine is willing to spend the time and money it takes to create a great online magazine even when the ingredients are so widely available. Flash introductions and exciting user engagement is the only way to actually replace a hard copy. Doing this without hindering Apple products is a method I won't talk about here.
Only then can you get the attention of markets worth advertising, (great ads) while replacing print and earning subscribers. Musiciantuner.com will be the cornerstone of my web development company. While giving online periodicals a run for their money and raising the bar much higher I can show off what my team of two can do.
(As long as I can survive financially through a volunteer project and which can only succeed with the writers who are willing to take the journey with me. So far they've been amazing!)
Lets read about real music. No offense to huge acts that get radio plays every hour but that is just not what any of us want to hear. Real music consists of talent, originality and genuine people. That needs a home and (I can't say no mags) MOST magazines (99%) cover what is "hot" according to sales, popularity and marketing. Maybe now you can see the vast difference in my "business" model.
So far Musician Tuner Magazine has over 20 writers who feel the same and have displayed some form of mutual feelings regarding the music scene in the mainstream. The articles are great, the writers are genuine and the site will be entertaining.

Android and Google, Apple and Nortel go to War
We start with a Canadian company called Nortel.
"On January 14, 2009, Nortel filed for protection from creditors in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom, in order to restructure its debt and financial obligations.[5] The period of bankruptcy protection has been extended to December 14, 2011" But not without first developing a portfolio of patents that would be the very future of wireless data. The auction for ownership has ended on July 1st and this post discusses the winner, the losers and our internet/mobile future. But first the back-story of all 3.
Android, a brief history;
Android was founded in 2003 by a guy names Andy Rubin. Rubin operated secretly and told the world only that Android inc. was "making software for mobile phones." That being said, the same year Rubin ran out of money and a guy named Steve Perlman (huge name) brought him $10,000 in an envelope and refused a stake in the company.
Google acquired Android inc. in 2005 and kept their founding team of 3 (Rubin, Rich Miner and Chris White)
These men maintained their secretive way.
This acquisition meant that Google was about to enter the mobile market but no one knew why....
Rumors trickled out that Google wanted their search engine to go mobile.
"Google had lined up a series of hardware component and software partners and signaled to carriers that it was open to various degrees of cooperation on their part."
2006- Google via the BBC and The Wall Street Journal explained that they wanted their search and apps on mobile devices. Plot thickens.
"In September 2007, InformationWeek covered an Evalueserve study reporting that Google had filed several patent applications in the area of mobile telephony."
The Open Handset Alliance
"On November 5, 2007, the Open Handset Alliance, a consortium of several companies which include Broadcom Corporation, Google, HTC, Intel, LG, Marvell Technology Group, Nvidia, Qualcomm,Samsung Electronics, Sprint Nextel, T-Mobile and Texas Instruments unveiled itself. The goal of the Open Handset Alliance is to develop open standards for mobile devices.[13] On the same day, the Open Handset Alliance also unveiled their first product, Android, a mobile device platform"
Google makes good with the largest communication companies in the world. Then in October 2008 they released the G1 (HTC Dream) on T-Mobile......................................
Apple a brief history;
'Apple Computers' was started by Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak and Ronald Wayne to sell the first Apple computer, the 'Apple I Personal Computer Kit'. In fact Wozniak hand made them! After many marketing issues and even some management changes. After a lawsuit with Microsoft in 1998. (Great read here) Apple made a stand with the first version of Macromedia's Final Cut, the iPod and 2002's Garage Band software and 2003's iTunes. Then in 2007 Steve Jobs announced that Apple Computers would drop 'Computer' from their name "because computers were no longer the main focus of the company." The same day he announced the iPhone.
2011, So where is Apple in all this current Nortel business?
Apple stands with the alliance's competition including Nokia, and Samsung to name a few.
So, with Google offering their Mobile system (Android) free to all the phone companies what were Apple and Microsoft to do?
They have had no choice but to push for lawsuits. This slows the Android saturation and Google realizes that they have to stand their ground so then what? It is now a patent war. Those lawsuits are for in 'use patents'. What does this mean? New patents is where the defense will lie... in 2011 who has these patents? Nortel owns the patents to the Long Term Evolution of wireless data (LTE).
The analysts claimed that the bidding "may go as high as 1.6 billion dollars." For some reason it seemed obvious to me that these world dominating patents would go for much more and much more they did.
Google had reportedly 36.7 billion dollars in the bank since March 31st and kicked it off with a 900 million dollar bid. According to an article on Reuters.com
"It became clear that they were bidding with the distance between the earth and the sun. One was the sum of a famous mathematical constant, and then when it got to $3 billion, they bid pi," the source said, adding the bid was $3.14159 billion. Then "They bid through $4 billion and tapped out."
Microsoft and Google Partnership?! PFFF!
Microsoft offered Google the chance to partner with them in order to "afford" bidding higher on the patents. According to an article here, Google's Kent Walker replied with this email to Microsoft's Brad Smith;
"Brad
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you - I came down with a 24 hour bug on the way back from San Antonio. After talking with people here, it sounds as though for various reasons a joint bid wouldn't be advisable for us on this one. But I appreciate your flagging it, and we're open for discussing other similar oppertunities in the future.
I hope the rest of your travels go well, and I look forward to seeing you again soon."
Sounds like someone was FURIOUS the day before, sounds like a blowoff, sounds like Google would never share the world with Microsoft, sounds like;
Oh yeah, sorry I didn't get back to you on that whole 'world communication domination' venture we could have made happen yesterday...
Once the auction saw 20 rounds of bids Google let it go.
"A group of six companies -- Apple, Microsoft, RIM, EMC, Ericsson and Sony -- won the auction of 6,000 Nortel patents and patent applications with a $4.5 billion bid."
So what does Google do to ensure those lawsuits don't kill Android and also still have a chance to fight the new Apple regime? They acquire Motorola for 12.5 Billion.
This was obviously the plan if the Nortel bidding got out of hand. Now they have a set of 17000 patents and a mobile device company. Google has now rushed into the software/hardware mobile market with plan B tactics, a possible monopoly issue and already pending Motorola/Apple lawsuits over Xoom in Europe.
Here is my proposal. Google is obviously on the run. If things don't work out very, VERY well on their first release of hardware/software integration sporting the age old Android operating system, Google's demise will be easily calculated.
Here is what Apple will do;
Apple search engine. I said it, it's the exact move that will be aggressive enough to push Google while they are very off their balance. While focusing on dominating mobile data word-wide via their new patents and 13 satellites launching 2013, much is to be said about Google's aggressive acts.
Besides iPhone 5's eminent revelation, here are some basics on how you would attack Google as an opposing company right now.

- Apple is already focusing on the anti-Google China market. So, provide a censored Search Engine for China in addition to the iPhone for them.
- Every iPhone uses Google in some way. That means that Apple has every iPhone users Google preferences. So, blocking or replacing Google on iPhones and Macs with their own search perhaps?
- Next leveling the anti Flash war.

Conspiracies That Are No Longer Conspiracies (Facts Only)
Operation Northwoods: An operation planned in the 60's to create a terrorist like event to push the nation to justify an invasion of Cuba. What did John F. Kennedy have to say?
He threatened to disband the CIA. In fact he fired CIA Director Allen Dulles who would later participate on the Warren Commission which concealed the facts regarding John F. Kennedy’s assassination, a combined CIA/Mossad operation blamed on a "lone gunman" who was immediately killed himself. Kennedy was also against Israels development of nuclear weapons. Pretty convenient huh?
"Almost 300 members of Congress signed a declaration reaffirming their commitment to “the unbreakable bond that exists” between the U.S. and the State of Israel in a letter to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton."
conspiracyarchive.com
A real example of false flag operations in American government and what happens to people who get in the way.
911: Far to much evidence is privatized to say what happened no matter what you or I personally believe. Facts that were given are now known as untrue. Plane fuel cannot burn hot enough to melt steel, why the buildings were purchased, who the owner was involved with (Mossad) and how much he made on the act and who Warren Bush is etc.
In 1933 a group of very wealthy businessmen got together to discuss world domination via creating a fascist American system and overthrow FDR. The group included members of Chase bank, the Dupont family and Senator Prescott Bush. The committee that Smedley Butler informed of the planned treason never filed any charges against the conspirators but did say in the final report that "evidence of such a conspiracy existed."
Most new world order conspiracy theories include but are not limited to the "cannibalizing of the American economy to weaken the lower class." for whatever change is to come. Beginning with a "Pearl Harbor like incident."
I actually foresaw and wrote about what will happen in Africa a month before the Libya issue after a serious amount of research for a writing assignment. I have the Writers Guild registration to prove it. It's all part of some type of plan or organized effort... Or greed.
Last word: Have you ever noticed, when you hear "conspiracy theory" you automatically think of crazy people, extremists or paranoid individuals? That's because you're told too.

'Unknown' Was as Good as its Title
This past weekend I was, yet again, disappointed by a major motion picture. Despite a largely popular lead in Liam Neeson, the story was incredibly basic, the twist was novice and the film was questionably similar to a classic.Remember both films compared are Warner Bros. but still, for us film buffs I give it a boo.
'Frantic' Synopsis
"Harrison Ford plays Dr. Richard Walker, a surgeon visiting Paris with his wife Sondra for a medical conference. At their hotel, she is unable to unlock her suitcase and Walker determines that she has picked up the wrong one at the airport. While Walker is taking a shower, his wife mysteriously disappears from their hotel room.

At their hotel, she is unable to unlock her suitcase and Walker determines that she has picked up the wrong one at the airport. While Walker is taking a shower, his wife mysteriously disappears from their hotel room.
Still jet-lagged, he searches for her in the hotel with the help of a polite but mostly indifferent staff and then wanders outside to search himself. A vagrant overhears him in a café and says he saw Walker's wife being forced into a car."
'Unknown' Synopsis
Liam Neeson plays Dr. Martin Harris who arrives in Berlin with his wife for a biotechnology summit. When he realizes he forgot his bag at the airport he leaves his wife at the hotel to go back for it. On the way his cab is involved in an accident in which the driver "Gina" saves his life.
After 4 days in a coma Martin awakes to find that his wife is not his wife but is still in fact married to 'Martin Harris'. with Gina's help Martin gets to the bottom of it and it looks like his wife is being forced to play along with th gangsters scheme.
'Unknown' - At Gina's apartment the bad guys show up, a fight ensues and Liam's character escapes by climbing out the window onto the common Berlin style roof.
'Frantic' - At Michelle's apartment Harry's character ends up on the roof of the same style to escape.
'Unknown' - Liam Neeson repeatedly fondles a wristwatch his wife gave him.
'Frantic' - As far as I can remember, Harrison Ford repeatedly fondles his wife's ID bracelet.
Instead of Dr. Richard Walker it's Dr. Martin Harris, instead of Paris it's Berlin, instead of picking up the wrong suitcase, it was left at the airport, instead of the his wife being kidnapped by thugs, she plays along with them, instead of Gina it's Michelle the doctor befriends, instead of a nuclear detonator it's a new strain of corn for world hunger...
Here's were it gets ugly:
The twist, that was only put into the script to match what sold it, its lame pitch. A twist that makes Dr. Martin Harris Jason Bourne.
The twist is that 'Martin' has actually mistaken his cover identity, as Doctor Martin Harris and wife as his real life and forgot that he is actually an assassin trying to gain access to another doctors new strain of corn. Suddenly he remembers everything; How to fight, where the bomb is and what is going on. OH! and "I remember how to kill you....asshole." is his big tough guy line, I thought it irresponsible to not make mention of that.
I hate bad cinematics;
Also, any film with (ECU) 'Extreme Close Up' fight scenes is a lazy movie. They say it puts the audience "in the scene", okay that's great as long as you don't ever go to a master wide during but that happens too. Bourne Identity - Paris apartment fight... Why can't we see more of that?
To prove my point look what young kids are making.
My point? Liam Neeson is the new Harrison Ford! I never realized.

My point? Liam Neeson is the new Harrison Ford! I never realized.

Build Yourself As A Filmmaker From The Ground Up.
"Sometimes I'm inspired by something I experience five years ago, sometimes I'm inspired by seeing someone fall over in the street." - Kid in The Front Row
What feeds your desire to make film? For most, its likely not the money. Most likely not the dedication, time and energy it takes. In fact the majority of people I meet in the film making arena are driven by the determination to create something they believe in via concept, script, short or feature. In that order. This is a collection of information gathered from several professional sources in and around the film making industry. Some are Actors, some are Screenwriters, some are Producers or Deal makers and some... are just plain knowledgeable.
Screenwriting:
Building yourself as a Screenwriter has many pitfalls, setbacks, burdens, time restraints and hurdles to get over AFTER the learning curve and before...your first read. Pending that grim reality check out what several people, who have made it work, did to get to film frame.
No one is perfect! Some may tell you that your work sucks. In fact some of your work will suck. But remember, sometimes people who you ask to right you, will be dead wrong. Even ones you should normally trust.
My first script was done and I sent it to several people. One of which was a writing teacher... She emailed me a LARGE amount of notes all tearing my work to the ground, stomping on it and even lit it on fire...With her harsh words. In fact she told me to "throw it away and start on something new because a re-write would take to much time." Ouch...
Two weeks later it placed... My first script on its first draft, the one I was told to throw away... placed as a top ten finalist in its first competition.
After a rewrite I know that my script has an average of 18 'laugh out louds' (from 3 readers) and has placed in 2 more competitions. Even professionals can be wrong. Don't ever let people nag on structure or beats. Learning them is hugely important but as the words glued to my monitor say
"An argument could be made that new writers with structurally groundbreaking work move to the front of the line." - Script Magazine
The best advice I have ever come up with... "With a lot of ambition, even more dedication and Google search, you can learn to do anything." - Ben Racicot
That being said, READ about writing! Check out our good friends who are pushing VERY informative blogs on the subject. They have helped me and will help you as well.
'Kid In The Front Row'

'Broken Roads' a Justin Chambers film

To build yourself as a writer from the ground up. Getting first gigs etc.
A no name, with no industry connections does what?
Our friend "Zuul" from The Bitter Script Reader, (a great blog for screenwriters) mentioned:
"Step 1 – move to L.A. Step 2 – meet people. Make friends in the industry. Yeah, you can try cold queries to try to get your material past the gatekeepers, but it’s a helluva lot easier to get a guy on the inside and use them to put your material in the hands of the right people.
This leads to Step 3 – have a damn good piece of material to show off when you do get in."
A young Director with his first studio feature 'Broken Roads' filming in July mentioned:
"Film school is a great resource. You should go. If you don't know where to begin, its nothing to do with the curriculum but the type of person you are. A discipline factor and some tools at arms reach."
- Director, Justin Chambers
What to do if you cannot re-locate:
"start busting your ass producing your own stuff." - Zuul, The Bitter Script Reader
Look at 'Clerks,' look at 'Blair Witch Project' or look at 'The Puffy Chair'. They were made for like $20,000 each but they could also have been made for $1000 y'know? - 'Kid In The Front Row'

"Write a script! Pick up a camera! Find some actors! Go shoot something. Sure, you can go to L.A. You can take whatever you love or hate about your life and your home town and make a piece of art. Show it in a way nobody has seen before. It doesn't have to cost anything at all. A good story is a good story whether it's in L.A., Nebraska, or a forest in Sweden." - Kid
"I won best picture at a film festival when I was fourteen, it was shot on mini-DV." - Justin Chambers
Imagine 'Clerks,' or the 'Blair Witch Project' being pitched as a script? Some projects have but one chance at making it to film frame...you. Justin Chambers was fourteen when he shot his first mini-DV project, which went on to win 'best picture' at a small film festival. Two features later and he is scouting location for his first ever studio Directing gig! Congrats Justin!

Although some just have the knack, 'The Bitter Script Reader' mentioned that
"A lot of writers are introverts, some perhaps lacking the communication skills and the authority necessary to deal with actors and department heads."
This being said and maybe being said about yourself, you can still manage to write, learn, create and adapt.
Maybe things will move slower for you but if the passion is there so is the drive. Remember, limited prospects often result in heightened temptation to become involved with many wastes of time and money disguised as tools. Which brings us to
Competition:
Competition:
"I’m not a big believer in competitions. I think most of them are a waste of money. It’s rare that a contest win does much to generate heat for a script, outside of perhaps the Nicholl or Austin. Even then, when I’ve worked for places that requested the Top 10 scripts in a particular competition, I’ve almost always been underwhelmed with the results." - Zuul, The Bitter Script Reader
"And then it's a progression. You might write a film that your next door neighbour directs; and it's picked as 3rd best film at a film festival in Harrison, Mississippi. And someone else in the festival wants to make a film and likes your work. So he gets you to write one. And then maybe three years from now he's making a feature, or maybe someone sees your movie on youtube and pays you a thousand dollars to write a low-budget rom-com to be made in New Zealand. Who knows! Follow yourself; follow your creativity, see where it takes you. But don't worry too much about it." - 'Kid In The Front Row'
Write everything and anything you can get your hands on! No job is to small. Follow through on your social media, Blog and even articles.
Distribution:

Distribution:
Many agree that various online platforms offer an easier showcasing-
"they’d face the same challenge in traditional distribution, so again it is going to come down to two crucial factors - having a good product and knowing how to drive the audience there."
- Zuul , The Bitter Script Reader

Where your audience will be and the best available marketing is a crucial mix. You may not be able to get a deal with HULU on the first project but YouTube.com offers 15 minute lengths at the moment. It may be up to you to drive traffic to the vid but there is one, quick, no budget avenue.
"I think social networking plays a big role now." "as you near completion of the film, everyone will be excited because they love all your teaser trailers and behind the scenes footage." - 'Kid In The Front Row'
The fan pages, friends and buzz you have online plays directly into what kind of audience your distributors have to gain.
"Networking. Thats how anything sells. Somewhat exclusive information." - Justin Chambers
How would you attain connections in any trade, group or industry? Networking. If you can't network you will struggle. The more you network the less agony in your future. Period.

Positive attitude:

The Future of Film
The future of film is... video. Remember snail mail, for communication? Remember no cell phones? Well I don't, I was about seven when people began carrying around morbidly, obese cells. My simple point is that although going to the movies or buying a Blue-Ray is kinda fun. It's expensive. Why would we continue to leave our homes to pay for tickets to a big screen when you can buy a 52 inch up-converting flat screen? If you watch a blue ray on that setup you would have already written this article. There is no need to go to the movies anymore for anything other than release dates and large (less quality) screens. If you don't believe me, look at the facts: YouTube, one of the biggest video outlets in the world went HD (what isn't?). They're pushing movie releases in case you didn't know. We watch our previews online (unless at a theater) and movie production is at an all time low anyways.(indie production is up) How many movies have come out in this recession that you cared enough to drive and see on the release date? This is actually great news for indie film and screenwriters who are not connected, or sons/daughters of hollywood's moguls. To tell you the truth, talented, passionate, Independent filmakers and screenwriters who are trying 'tooth and nail' to make it, deserve success much more than the majority of the already established hollywood world. This process of 'Indie rising' will bring up any kid with a camera but also kill careers of the talentless.
Talented people will be picking up cameras and craigslisting actors. That is the entertainment world I want to see. As far as James Cameron flicks, Transformers, Jurassic Parks... Great! Release it on the big screen.
Look at movies that really suck, look at the Kardashians! Are you kidding me? Look at tabloids... These are things that make America look dumb to the rest of the world.
As the major part of the industry slows, the more chances for newer but still talented filmmakers. MORE films will be made by more genuine people. The best part is... You won't be getting famous for making a sex tape and buying PR. Sorry Paris, sorry Kim. Film will be refined in the next few years. That's the only good thing this recession has brought, a refining dummy slap for the film industry.
